I know we are not supposed to mention other games on the forum but it has been posted on the BBC website that UK games company Realtime Worlds, creators of Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto and maker of the on-line game APB has gone into administration with the possible loss of 250 jobs.
The move it seems was due to 'lacklustre' demand for the new APB game and the removal of 'Tax Breaks' by the UK government.
Food for thought CCP?

For a number of reasons;
There are over 200 people losing their jobs and CCP is recruiting in the UK.
CCP is I believe opening a new section in the UK so the tax break saga will apply to them.
The lack of take up of the new on-line game although possibly due to the game itself not being of a good enough standard to warrant a good take up, may also be due to a shift in peoples disposable income not allowing them to subscribe to another on-line game.
It may have repercussions on the eventual release of DUST in the coming years.
I donĘt know, itĘs up to the bean counters at CCP to digest and decide.

When a company in the UK cannot pay its bills the company by law has to close, so they appoint administrators to oversee the closure of the company and recoup as much money as possible to pay the tax, creditors and staff.
If possible they will sell the company as a ęGoing ConcernĘ to someone else to take over the company and keep it going.

Originally by: Marchocias Realtime Worlds did NOT make Lemmings or GTA.
One of the guys who owned it did. But the company in question was never involved in either.
Then please inform the BBC so they can update their website, I only reported what was on their site. |
